Loose Diamonds

Sell Loose Diamonds

When we buy diamonds, we’re primarily buying it for value of the diamond itself, not its setting or the jewelry around it (there are some exceptions, but not many). So, you’re at no disadvantage just selling loose diamonds. Perhaps you had some broken jewelry, the diamond fell out of its setting, or you had an old piece repurposed leaving out some of the diamonds. Whatever the reason, we’re happy to buy your loose diamonds.

At Cash for Gold Mailer, we’re also expert gemologists. If you have a diamond certification, we’ll be able to quickly give you a quote for your loose diamond. If you don’t, our experts can inspect your diamond and provide a valuation after analyzing its components.

Since loose diamonds don’t have settings with other metals in them, the pricing for loose diamonds is very straight-forward. That is, we are paying you for the value of the diamond, rather than the diamond plus scrap gold, silver, or platinum (although you’re welcome to send these to us too!). For more information on valuing diamonds, check out Diamond Karma’s article on how Diamonds are priced using the 4 C’s (the size of the diamond, the cut, the clarity, and the color).
The quoting process can be done much quicker and with more confidence if your loose diamonds are certified. Certificates like AGS, EGL, GIA (the most popular), HRD, or IGI provide verified information about the 4 C’s, allowing for much quicker estimates rather than having to inspect the diamond.
If you have no documentation, it is still possible for us to buy your diamonds. Once it is sent to our facility, your diamonds will be inspected and appraised by a professional as part of the process in making an offer for your loose diamonds and other jewelry.

We do not purchase diamonds that:

  • Have been clarity enhanced
  • Have been color treated
  • Have been laser drilled
  • Have clarity of I1, I2, I3, or SI3
  • Have strong fluorescence
  • Have poor cuts

The accurate value of your loose diamonds can only be determined after it has been expected by a professional to verify its quality, weight, and purity. If you’d like a free appraisal and offer for your gold, diamond, and other jewelry, fill out our form on the left to print your free label or request a free cash for gold mailer pack.

Calculating the Value of Loose Diamond

Diamond Karma’s diamond value calculator is a good place to start if you’d like a rough valuation of your diamond (assuming you have a certification or are confident in the grading of each of the 4 C’s). But as mentioned above, the 4 C’s essentially determine the value of the diamond itself.

Clarity

Clarity refers to the presence of internal flaws (inclusions) and external blemishes in a diamond. Diamonds are graded on a scale ranging from Flawless (no inclusions or blemishes visible under 10x magnification) to Included (inclusions and/or blemishes visible to the naked eye). Diamonds with fewer inclusions and blemishes are more valuable.

If there are NO inclusions, that’s a sign that the diamond is lab grown. While lab grown diamonds look amazing and can be a good ethical choice, it unfortunately significantly reduces their resale value. At Cash for Gold Mailer, we rarely buy lab-grown diamonds.

Carats (Weight)

Carat is a unit of measurement for diamonds. One carat is equivalent to 200 milligrams. Larger diamonds generally command higher prices, but other factors such as cut, color, and clarity also play a significant role in determining the overall value.

Color

The color grade of a diamond is a measure of how colorless or “white” it is. The GIA grades diamonds on a scale from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow or brown). The less color a diamond has, the more valuable it is considered to be.

Cut

The cut of a diamond refers to how well the diamond has been shaped and faceted. It is not about the shape (round, princess, etc.) but rather the quality of the cut, which influences how well the diamond reflects light. A well-cut diamond will sparkle more, making it more valuable.

Like any precious metal, the value of diamonds fluctuate over time. Recent years have seen the value of natural diamonds drop with the introduction of lab-grown diamonds, so it may be a good idea to sell your diamonds as this market continues to grow.

Once the pricing factors are calculated on your loose diamonds, we can determine how much your pieces are worth. At Cash for Gold Mailer, we operate as efficiently as possible and work with the lowest margins in the industry. That’s why we guarantee the best offer, local or online, for your gold, diamonds, and valuables.
